CANDIED BLOOD ORANGE SLICES DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE

CANDIED BLOOD ORANGE SLICES DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE

Simple, elegant and seductive. The candied blood oranges are a great beginning to a romantic evening or dinner party. The bitterness from the oranges, sweetness from the sugar and the boldness of SoChatti can excite anyone's taste buds.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 to 4 Blood Oranges (slice into rounds, remove seeds if necessary)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 to 4 ounces SoChatti chocolate

Instructions

Step 1. Slice oranges and remove seeds.

Step 2. In a saucepan over high heat bring the sugar and water to a boil, stir constantly. Boil for one minute.

Step 3. Lower the temperature, so the water sugar mixture is simmering. Add the orange slices, a few at a time and let simmer for 1 minute.

Step 4. Using a strainer or tongs remove the orange slices to a cooling rack placed over a cookie sheet to drain off extra liquid.  (This will make clean up easier.) Repeat this process until all of the orange slices are done.

Step 5. Allow the orange slices to cool for 10 to 15 minutes.  Repeat steps 4 and 5 two more times to achieve the candied orange slice.

Step 6. Place the 2 to 4 ounces of SoChatti into a small bowl or dish that would be good for dipping your candied fruit into.

Step 7. Take each slice, dip into the SoChatti until desired height, then pull the candied fruit out and let the excess SoChatti drip off.  Then place onto the cookie sheet lined with wax paper or parchment.

Step 8: Place in the refrigerator for 5 minutes to set the SoChatti and enjoy.
